Joe Lynn Turner -
Nostradamus .
Joe Lynn Turner made his
recording debut in 1977 as the lead singer of the American band
Fandango on the self-titled album. He went on to record three more
albums with Fandango ("One Night Stand" from 1978, "Last Kiss" from
1979 and "Cadillac" from 1980") before he joined Rainbow for the
album "Difficult to Cure" in 1981, which included the hit single "I
Surrender". Joe also appeared on the two following Rainbow albums,
"Straight Between the Eyes" and "Bent Out of Shape". After that,
Ritchie Blackmore decided to disband Rainbow in order to rejoin
Deep Purple. Joe made his solo debut in 1985 with the album "Rescue
You". In 1988, Joe Lynn Turner joined Yngwie Malmsteen's band and
sung on the 1988 album "Odyssey" as well as the live release "Trial
by Fire - Live in Leningrad" from 1989. In 1990 Joe replaced Ian
Gillan in Deep Purple, and made one album with them, "Slaves and
Masters", released the same year. He went on to
join the band Mother's Army, which released their debut album in
1993. In 1995 Joe released his first solo album in ten years,
"Nothing's Changed", and he also joined Brazen Abbot for "Eye of
the Storm". He recorded a few tracks for Yngwie Malmsteen's
"Inspiration" album, and the following year Joe released a new solo
album consisting of covers, "Under cover". He also appeared on the
second Mother's Army album "Planet Earth" as well as the Brazen
Abbot album "Bad Religion" the same year. The solo album "Hurry Up
and Wait" was released in 1998, as well as Mother's Army's "Fire in
the Moon" and guitarist Stuart Smith's album "Heaven and Earth", on
which Joe sings a couple of tracks. He released not one, but two
solo albums in 1999: the cover album "Under Cover 2" and "Waiting
For a Girl Like You"; "Holy Man" followed in 2000. His latest solo album, "Slam!", was released in 2001. Joe has also guested on a lot of albums doing
backing vocals for various artists, such as Lita Ford and Cher and
he has also appeared on quite a few tribute albums, including
tributes to Deep Purple and Cream, and he is currently working on a project with Glenn
Hughes.
He also sings the main part as Michel de Nostredame himself in the
rock opera "Nostradamus". |
